Common Restylane side effects include skin redness or erythema, itching, swelling, mild pain and tenderness, although these side effects usually disappear within a few days after the injection. You should not inject Restylane into areas where there is already a permanent or temporary filler. Contraindications of Restylane Defyne injections include use in areas with chronic or acute skin lesions, use on pregnant or breastfeeding women, and use on clients who have porphyria, an autoimmune disorder, severe allergies, or a hypersensitivity or allergy to hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, or the amide anesthetics that are found in lidocaine formulas.

How to inject/administer this product:

Before proceeding with treatment, inform your client of the expected outcomes, precautions, warnings, and possible side effects that may occur. You should also take down the client’s medical history. Plan out and mark the sites of injection. Prior to injection, disinfect the site to be treated with a suitable antiseptic. Attach the supplied needle to the injection syringe securely, following the full instructions on the leaflet. Inject the gel slowly with even pressure. Follow standard practices and guidelines (e.g. aseptic technique) to mitigate the possibility of cross-infection.
